  • May 14, 2008, A paper on the discovery of a new quantum state (Metastable Innershell Molecular State, MIMS) in high energy density material formed by hypervelocity cluster impact data was accepted for publication in Phys. Lett. A. MIMS can be used for generating super-intense x-ray beams with unprecedented high conversion efficiency from kinetic-energy to x-ray energy, over 40 %. Such super-intense x-ray beams can make inertial confinement nuclear fusion more efficient and economically viable.

  • March 21, 2008, Dr. Bae presented a colloquium at University of Nevada, Reno, on hypervelocity nanoparticle impact phenomena and new quantum states in highly compressed matter.
